A friend who invests in real estate invited me to an event where other investors would be. Always eager to learn and meet new people, I went.
By a stroke of “chance,” after a few minutes I was talking to an investor who had just completed the purchase of a building he knew well. It was his first investment in Lisbon. We exchanged some ideas, I warned him about certain risks, and we had a great conversation.
Six months later, we were talking again. Some of the risks we had discussed had “become real.”
“André, what would you do if the building were yours?” After analyzing the process and understanding some of the risks involved, I “delivered” my analysis, explaining which strategy I would implement.
The conversations progressed, and eventually, I became a partner in the company, with the role of managing the entire Real Estate Development process.

Let all this be the error of those who accuse pleasure and praise pain, I will open the whole matter, and I will explain the very things that were said by that discoverer of truth and, as it were, the architect of the happy life. For no one despises or hates or flees pleasure itself because it is pleasure, but because great pains follow those who do not know how to follow pleasure with reason. Nor is there anyone who loves, pursues, or wishes to obtain pain itself because it is pain, but because times of that kind never occur when he seeks some great pleasure through labor and pain.
For to be fair to the smallest, who of us undertakes any laborious exercise of the body, unless to obtain some benefit from it? But who would rightly blame either him who wishes to be in that pleasure which results in no discomfort, or him who flees that pain which produces no pleasure.
